I received my first journal at age 9 (pictured here). The aunt who gave it to me had no idea that it would spark my interest in the written word. Twenty-two journals later, it turned out to be the single tool that developed and shaped my writing voice.
Moving on from creative prose, I honed the news writing skill as an editor of my high school and college papers. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin -Madison (Go Badgers!), my writing evolved yet again to technical features working in B2B publishing.
In 2004, I started Zissman Media. I am passionate about what I do because I love the opportunity writing gives me to connect to people. Whether it’s through research or interviews, understanding the way people live, work and play in buildings provides insight into the occupants themselves. I enjoy the relationships I develop with everyone I work with and for.
An avid runner and active community member, I live in Chicago with my husband and five children.
